Sciemetric delivers Reduced Cycle Time & Superior Defect Detection
| Infusion device manufacturers have decreased lead test cycle time by 10% using Sciemetric's Process Signature Verification technology. |
There are some specific challenges to leak testing in manufacturing. For example, manufacturers can experience long cycle times, which affects yield. Sciemetric's solutions were developed to enable faster cycle times while providing the best defect detection available. The leak testing application notes below provide several examples.
Sciemetric's leak test product portfolio applies advanced signature analysis technology:
- sigPOD® Leak -The industry-leading design to optimize leak testing. It separates the controller and pneumatics so that the compact pneumatics can be placed close to the device under test.
- The 3300 Series is a multi-channel leak test system. The controller can support up to four pneumatic panels and each pneumatic panel can support up to six channels. The 3300 is therefore expandable from a simple single channel leak application all the way up to twenty-four channels per controller.
About Leak Testing
Leak testing is the inspection of seal integrity to assure manufactured quality. Examples of parts tested include valves, hoses, ink jet cartridges, catheters, pumps, reservoirs, plumbing components and many more. See our leak test application notes below for details.
A combination of pressure and flow sensors is used to detect small leaks. Analysis methods include slope, maximum and average.
- Pressure decay monitors the pressure over time. A drop in pressure indicates a leak. Used for most parts with leak rates above 0.1 SCCM.
- Differential decay uses the same theory as pressure decay but uses a differential transducer to monitor a smaller pressure range to detect smaller leaks down to 0.005 SCCM.
- Mass flow uses a mass flow sensor to measure air into a part to detect the volume of air leading out of a part. Mass flow is less sensitive to temperature changes and is used for larger volumes.
