Torque Testing

Measuring Stiction & Friction

Any part that rotates in operation or is rotated in manufacturing to verify quality requires torque testing. A wide variety of products, subcomponents and assembly processes benefit from a detailed measurement of rotational stiction and friction and Sciemetric has provided systems to test everything from a tube of lipstick to an engine.

Capturing Complete Torque Signatures

Sciemetric's approach to torque testing uses high speed data acquisition to ensure that all the important information is captured. Most products under test yield a complex torque signature that must be quickly and simply processed by a number of algorithms from Sciemetric's toolkit such as filtering, synchronous averaging or Fourier transform. Once processing is complete, the correct quality characteristics can then be extracted and tracked using online SPC software.

Combine Torque Testing Results with Other Physical Parameters

Many of our customers have also found value from having the torque measurement complemented with another physical parameter such as pressure or vibration to gain the maximum benefit from any given testing opportunity. Sciemetric's flexible range of test systems (like sigPOD) allow multi-physical parameter testing with ease.

Sciemetric: the Leading Choice for Torque Testing

Sciemetric is the leading choice of many automotive manufacturing plants to monitor free-running torque. sigPOD Torque provides a fully integrated solution to monitor typical tapping and drilling tool, breakageand, is also at work in other industries.  Take a look at the new sigPOD 1302, a low-cost two-channel test system that includes torque testing software.
