Job Summary
The Director, Engineering & Product Management will have responsibility for directing and coordinating through subordinate managers, the design, development, and verification of hardware and software products and releases. Responsible for leading the development of an innovative IoT Cloud-based data analytics solution.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interprets company goals into department goals and ensures communication to employees.
- Drive Engineering Management activities at Sciemetric including (but not limited to):

Directs a team of managers involved in the design, development and test of complex hardware and software products, assigning tasks and reviewing results.

Plans optimum use of resources, administers and monitors use against budget.

Responsible for project completion within design, budget and schedule limitations; designs are cost effective to manufacture and compliant to specifications.

Provides guidance in the design protocols and desired functionality in development and test programs.

Ensures that product development and quality assurance documentation is complete and coordinate with technical writers to ensure familiarity with product and that user documentation follows ease-of-use standard.

Reviews testing protocols for compliance with accepted standards. Reviews testing results to determine if desired functionality has been achieved.

Drive Product Management activities at Sciemetric including (but not limited to):
-
Understand customer’s technical need via Voice of Customer (VoC) program, and then incorporate them into Product development activities

Identify major emerging trends in the market and identify customers in these arenas who are good candidates for our product offerings in current/modified forms

Identify adjacent spaces, unserved/underserved markets (local & global), identify what is important to them, and help sales team message

Develop business case for new products & improvements to existing products

- Develops policies and procedures and program requirements to be followed, so that product development meets company and industry standards, and overall corporate objectives for product integrity and marketability; and monitors for compliance.

Approves exceptions to policy after review and in-depth evaluation of various factors. Identifies whether such approval requires review by the Executive Team.

Recommends program refinements and changes to better achieve desired functionality and/or enhance program capabilities. Counsels designers in the use of various design tools.

Facilitates and ensures individual and team roles and responsibilities are understood; performance measurement objectives are identified, measured and monitored on an on-going basis to provide positive feedback on accomplishments and to ensure immediate action is taken to address shortfalls.

Establishes and maintains effective human resource programs which enable the company to attract, develop, motivate and retain high caliber staff in a cost-effective manner. Ensures a positive work environment and awareness by all staff of company goals and objectives.

Ensures awareness of and compliance to all applicable employment, environmental, health and safety legislation.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:
- BSc in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 10+ years’ experience managing a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives along with 6+ years supervisory experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Skills in analyzing, judgment, decision making and project management
- Thorough knowledge of applicable software and hardware design and development
- Skills in effective leadership, innovation, and communication
