Re: Windows® XPe or XP Pro on sigPOD
As of July 17, 2015, Sciemetric will ship sigPOD systems with Windows 7 Embedded as the standard operating system (OS) as and is announcing the discontinuation of sigPODs with Windows XPe or XP Pro effective that date. This discontinuation is a result of Microsoft® ending its support of these operating systems. The sigPOD models affected are the 1202/4, 1302, 1508 and 3404.
The intent of this notice is to inform our customers of the discontinuation and to provide information on the roll-out of the new OS and how to upgrade a sigPOD to Windows 7 if desired.

Ordering a sigPOD with XP
Although sigPODs will ship with Windows 7 as a standard, it will be possible to order the XP OS until the last buy date noted above. When placing an order, be sure to clearly request the XP version which will require the part number below to be added to your quote in addition to the sigPOD part. This version will be provided at no extra cost until the last buy date.
sigPODs shipped with XP will only be available with InspeXion 7 and version 4.2 of PSV software and cannot be used with the new 3520 Series leak test products.

Upgrading an existing sigPOD
The options for upgrading your sigPOD from the XP Embedded operating system to Windows 7 Embedded depend upon the model of the sigPOD (e.g., 1200, 1302, etc.), version of the hardware that you currently have and whether you are using a PSV or IPT application. Older units will require memory and other hardware updates to run the new OS. Contact Sciemetric Support or your Sciemetric representative with your serial number to get a quote on an upgrade. Most systems will need to be returned to factory for upgrading.
