Sciemetric releases more powerful, robust sigPOD in-station process monitor

Hardware upgrade boosts performance, processing speed

Ottawa, Canada – Sciemetric Instruments, whose technology has been used by some of the world’s largest manufacturers to improve their quality and manufacturing processes, today announced significant upgrades to its sigPOD 1200 series in-station process monitor. sigPOD is the universal hardware platform of the company’s process monitoring and quality management systems that help manufacturers monitor the variables that impact critical manufacturing processes.

The sigPOD 1200 series is Sciemetric’s most popular sigPOD due to its industrial NEMA-12 packaging. This designation renders the monitor suitable for harsh manufacturing environments without the use of an enclosure, which speeds implementation and reduces costs. The sigPOD 1202 and 1204, for two- and four-channel applications, now has a 40GB solid state drive, a 1.66 GHz dual-core processor and twice the memory, as well as two USB 2.0 ports. These improvements can boost overall performance by up to 10 times over the previous version. Independent per-channel amplifiers, 33.3 mV sensitivity, and up to four encoder channels, make the sigPOD 1200s’ data acquisition system one of the best in the industry. The sigPOD offers the most on-board data storage of any process monitor.

“Our customers and our industry develop at the speed of technology, and as a trusted software and systems provider to the world’s leading manufacturers, we need to keep pace with technological developments and offer market-leading solutions to our customers,” said Nathan Sheaff, CEO of Sciemetric Instruments. “With these improvements to the sigPOD 1200 series, manufacturers have a rugged, powerful quality platform that has the power to handle any application.”

As part of the family of universal process monitors, the sigPOD 1200 series can be used for virtually any testing and monitoring applications such as press-fit monitoring, torque testing, sound and vibration analysis, welding, profiling  and more. Manufacturers can also use Sciemetric’s PSV, or process signature verification, software to configure the system to meet their requirements.

Improved performance enables manufacturers to perform complex data analysis in real time, delivering more accurate and comprehensive quality tests than ever before. Pairing sigPOD with Sciemetric’s QualityWorX analytical software, provides advanced automated storage, archiving, retrieval, analysis and reporting of critical manufacturing data captured on the plant floor. QualityWorX enables collection and analysis of production data to demonstrate proof of compliance for parts made, determine trends as a means to proactively identify production improvements, quickly address quality issues and increase productivity.
