Sciemetric introduces centralized manufacturing data with QualityWorX

Time-consuming manual reporting eliminated thanks to centralized manufacturing data and library of standard reports

October 19, 2010 – Sciemetric Instruments (www.sciemetric.com), whose technology has been used for over 25 years by some of the world’s largest manufacturers to improve quality and their manufacturing processes, today announced the release of the latest version of its proprietary analytical software, QualityWorX, that includes an improved web reporting interface that gives all users real-time access to centralized manufacturing data.

QualityWorX is a comprehensive suite of software tools that automate the storage, archiving, retrieval, analysis and reporting of critical manufacturing data captured on the plant floor. It enables collection and analysis of production data to demonstrate proof of compliance for parts made. Determine trends as a means to proactively identify production improvements, quickly address quality issues and increase productivity. Reporting on quality is a challenge that many manufacturers face because they lack the tools to effectively bring together the production data and must rely on time-consuming approaches.

This new version includes an improved Web Reporter reporting function that makes manufacturing data housed in the centralized QualityWorX database available across the network through a web browser in a user-friendly interface. This simple but powerful interface, accessed over either local or wide-area networks, makes manufacturing data available to technicians and managers alike. The reports provide insight on quality and throughput and enable some drill-down to determine the cause of issues affecting them.

In order to produce reports to support either internal quality initiatives or regulatory requirements, manufacturers no longer have to gather data from disparate sources and generate time-consuming manual reports. With Web Reporter, the pertinent information can be quickly and easily accessed from the QualityWorX database and presented in an easy-to-understand format. An extensive library of standard reports is included in the core software. In just a few clicks, even non-technical managers can create powerful reports including First Time Yield, Summary Report, Trend Browser, Failure Report, Failure Pareto, Repair Traffic and Defect Pareto.

When used with Sciemetric’s sigPOD test stations, the hardware and software combine to create unparalleled visibility into manufacturing processes, and users are able to gain the full value of process signature technology. The methodology – capturing and then analyzing the unique process signatures of critical manufacturing processes – provides complete visibility into manufacturing processes, which lowers failure rates, quickly determines root causes of defects, shortens test-cycle times and improves manufacturers’ ability to conduct selective, rather than sweeping, recalls. Detailed records of end-to-end manufacturing data prove that products meet internal standards and support regulatory compliance.

QualityWorX can also be connected to third-party test stations and PLC networks. Regardless of the hardware components selected – either the plug and play family of sigPOD test stations or proprietary test devices from other vendors – test stations can be added or deactivated in QualityWorX without any production downtime. Because the application is based on an SQL database and has been developed using open standards such as XML and OPC, all test devices can take full advantage of the storage and analysis power of QualityWorX.

Web Reporter is now included with every QualityWorX installation at no additional cost.
