Application Note | Manufacturing Wheelchair: Drive Motor Testing
A motorized wheelchair manufacturer was experiencing higher than usual returns and repairs due to excessive noise and vibration issues that were the result of imperfectly manufactured motors. Sciemetric’s sigPOD multi-channel measurement platform was installed and easily configured to fully characterize the noise and vibration characteristics of each motor assembly to find any of the defects that later affected customer satisfaction. Application Note: Automotive Oxygen Sensor Testing
Sciemetric’s sigPOD has easily configurable software to test sampling rates, precise triggers, waveform calculations and signature based checks. This system was applied on an automotive manufacturing line to test oxygen sensors that had been a challenge to test and monitor because resistance is changed immediately when power is applied. Application Note | Piston Cooling Nozzle Assembly: Test Verification Using Signature Analysis
Sciemetric’s process monitoring system was used to successfully detect piston cooling nozzle defects early in the assembly process. Detects all missing, blocked or obstructed cooling nozzles, measures high and low pressure and provides real-time ‘PASS’ or ‘FAIL’ results to the operator. Installation of the system resulted in the diesel engine manufacturer, decreasing end-of-line repair costs, customer warranty claims and more. Read the Application Note to learn more.

Application Note | Piston Ring Verification System: Laser Gaging Using Signature Analysis
A manufacturer was experiencing problems with the inconsistent quality of their shipped engines, leading to customer complaints and expensive teardowns after engine hot/cold test. The problem was traced to improperly stacked compression rings. Sciemetric resolved the problem by installing our advanced laser gaging technology system to accurately detect even the slightest defects such as upside down, bent, and incorrect positioning of each compression ring. Application Note: Verification of Piston Type & Orientation Using Laser Scanning
A major automotive integrator was unable to test any one of four engine blocks right after piston insertion and defects being found after final engine assembly were causing expensive teardowns. Sciemetric easily installed a test and analysis system using laser scanning to verify the engine blocks to ensure correct positioning and accurately find defects such as under or oversized and bent pistons. Application Note | Power Steering Pump: Vane Defect Detection Using Signature Analysis
A power steering pump manufacturer required a solution that accurately detected the most subtle vane defects prior to final assembly to avoid costly tear downs due to the objectionable noise and vibration (NVH) they can create. A Sciemetric test and analysis system was installed and configured to observe the pressure waveform, allowing easy detection of missing, nicked, bent and slightly stuck vanes. Application Note: Transfer Line Load Monitoring
The transfer lines are often subjected to substantial loads and forces during the transfer process. Recently, a transfer line that was being used to transfer automobile bodies on a body weld line began experiencing problems with pin shear as a direct result of the force required to move the parts. A Sciemetric test and analysis system was used and provided a quick and easy solution to the problem. The system was configured to monitor and collect for fifteen seconds the compression and tension force data from a load cell configured on a transfer line (the entire process occurred in eleven seconds). Automatic Transmission Manufacturing Line Blueprint
For over 30 years, Sciemetric has been leading the development of technologies for front-line defect detection on the manufacturing production line through in-process testing (IPT). IPT (In-process testing) is about catching issues at the stations where they happen, when the cost of resolving them is the lowest. This blueprint provides examples of where and how Sciemetric technology can be used across the automatic transmission manufacturing line to improve product quality and provide traceability.

E-book: Improving your manufacturing leak test with data
The struggle to test for and address leaks that lead to faulty parts and warranty claims is nothing new. But rising expectations for product quality and reliability are putting this test to the test like never before. Data is the key to giving your plant, and your front-line workers, the insight and intelligence they need to take action when it needs to be taken, to maintain output at the highest standard of quality. This is the essence of Industry 4.0. And Sciemetric can help you get there.
