Hardware Engineer/Designer
Join our Research & Development Team!
Sciemetric is looking for a hardware engineer / designer to join our embedded products team. We design and manufacture industrial instrumentation that gets deployed to manufacturing plants the worlds largest companies. This is a majority in-office position based out of our Ottawa facility. Some travel and remote work will be expected as needed. We are open to new graduates as well as experienced professionals with relevant experience.
Salary Band

Level 1/Level 2: $70,000 – $100,000
Responsibilities
Design and develop- Industrial Measurement systems (Layer 2 / Layer 1)
- FPGA logic (Verilog, VHDL)
- Bare metal microcode (C)
- Electronics component / BOM / library management
- Schematic capture
- PCB layout and routing
- Vendor selection and vendor qualification
- Board bring-up & testing
- Product certification and compliance (EMC, Safety)
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.Sc. in Electronics/Electrical/Computer engineering (or equivalent)
- Portfolio/evidence of previous design work
Additional Qualifications
- Industrial controls experience (EtherCAT, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, PLCs)
- FPGA development experience (Verilog, VHDL)Mixed signal (analog and digital) design experience
- Debug skills with Oscilloscope, Multi-meter, Logic analyser, RF spectrum analyser
- Hardware compliance experience (EMC, Safety, ISO 9001)
- Simulations (SPICE, FEM, Analytical)
