Digital Process Signature Analysis
Catch defects other systems miss with Sciemetric’s unique digital process signature process measurement technology. By capturing more data points than other systems, digital process signature analysis redefines accuracy with next-level pass/fail confidence and actionable insight
What sets Sciemetric apart? Our digital process signature technology
At the heart of Sciemetric’s smart manufacturing solutions is our digital process signature technology, a cornerstone of our 40+ years of leadership in smart manufacturing. Our unique technology measures and captures more data points than traditional systems, delivering sharper accuracy during every test and enabling immediate, reliable defect detection.
Plus, by storing and saving those digital process signatures, you unlock long-term value—using that data to fine-tune your tests; analyze trends and patterns, refine your test limits, and drive continuous improvement over time.
Sciemetric’s digital process signatures enable actionable, data-driven intelligence, including:
What is a digital process signature?
Sciemetric measures and records more datapoints during a manufacturing test or process than any other defect detection system. These datapoints are connected to create a thorough, visual representation of the process, a digital process signature, or waveform (see right). The baseline signature profile of a good part vs. a faulty part is used to establish a range of acceptable deviation and waveform overlay analysis capability makes it easy to spot anomalies and analyze the root cause of problems.
Because each combination of a part and a process is unique. With any controlled process, including press fitting, leak testing, welding, dispense, and more, the signature is repeatable and consistent when parts meet specification. A signature that does not match the normal profile—an anomaly, or deviation—indicates a flawed process and a defective part.
A visualized recording of your production health—never miss a beat
Digital process signature technology works like an ECG for your manufacturing process—capturing every microsecond to reveal the “heartbeat” of each operation. With continuous monitoring, issues are caught as they happen, and the detailed trace becomes a powerful record for diagnosing and optimizing performance later.
The power of signature data

Digital process signatures provide unparalleled insight at the station level, in production real-time, for each cycle of a process or test. Think of it as a video instant replay, versus the handful of snapshots provided by scalars. This delivers:
Greater accuracy
Signatures deliver up to thousands of data points per process cycle that can be analyzed to arrive at a pass/fail decision, versus scalars that capture only a few isolated points in time during the cycle. This makes it possible to quickly trace the root cause of existing problems or spot the anomalies that point to new ones before quality suffers.
Better visibility, traceability
This “video instant replay” provides your team with the data-driven insight for continuous improvement of processes, to reduce scrap and rework rates and boost first-time yield.
Easy, visual interpretation
As we explore the press-fit example below, a signature visualizes the process in a manner that is easy for the non-engineer to understand. This empowers many on the plant floor to contribute to a higher standard of quality.
See it in action: Using digital process signatures to monitor a press-fit operation
Press-fit monitoring is a common manufacturing operation. Using Sciemetric technology, every microsecond of the press-fit operation is measured to offer full visibility into the process.
During this process, the data is visualized as a waveform that combines force vs. time and distance vs. time measurements. This casts a spotlight on several possible issues with a part, as well as issues with the process or the machine. Any of these could result in a flawed pressing operation that leads to downstream defects.
