Application Note | Brake Line Assembly Verification: Leak Testing and Part Correlation
A manufacturer was experiencing problems with truck rear brake assembly: very small leaks where brake line fluid would leak out of the line were going undetected, leading to expensive repairs and high warranty costs. The manufacturer required a solution that would test the entire rear brake line assembly process for accuracy and quality while able to determine the root cause of the defects. Read our application note to learn how Sciemetric fixed the problem.

Application Note | Fuel Injector Insertion Verification Using Force Monitoring
Fuel rail defects for a leading automotive manufacturer were traced to the improper insertion of fuel injectors into the fuel rail. The recurring defects were not found until late in assembly and represented a potential warranty issue as the injectors and fuel rails would experience premature wear due to the improper insertion. This risk along with high teardown and repair costs led the manufacturer to look for an efficient, reliable and effective way to monitor the simultaneous insertion of the three fuel rail injectors into the fuel rail. Application Note: Short Block Crank Torque to Turn Test
A major engine manufacturer was experiencing customer complaints and costly warranty repairs and quickly required a solution that could detect defects early in the Short Block assembly process, specifically defects caused by crankshafts. Sciemetric’s Short Block Crank Torque to Turn test measures the torque as the crank is rotated, applying advanced algorithms for consistent and reliable detection of defects such as contaminated bearings, debris, incorrect fit, bent or nicked cranks, etc. Read the Application Note to learn more.

Application Note: The True Cost of Medical Packaging
In medical device packaging it is extremely important to have a reliable sterile sealing process, however in many cases it is the last piece of the puzzle before going to market with a product. When a proper seal packaging process is not practiced, it quite often leads to returns and having to re-package the product or dispose of it all together while additional unnecessary costs are incurred. Application Note: Dispense Operations
Downstream issues on the production line with leaks, non-secure parts and components, or unwanted noise and vibration can often be traced back to a flawed fluid dispense operation. The Sciemetric solution, using digital process signature analysis, allows manufacturers to identify faulty dispense operations as they occur and take corrective action. The result is reduced downtime, scrap, rework costs, warranty claims, and improved production efficiency and product quality.

Application Note: Detecting Debris Under Brake Caliper Seal
End-of-line leak tests were not catching some brake caliper defects. Process anomalies such as small debris pieces, or “chips” in the seal groove were resulting in very subtle defects which were impossible to detect. Caliper defects were being discovered by vehicle assembly plants or by customers, which led to expensive warranty repairs and productivity disruptions. The manufacturer required a solution with minimal tooling and fixturing modification that would reliably improve caliper quality without affecting yield. Read our application note to learn how Sciemetric solved the problem.

Application Note: Crimp Nut Monitoring
A manufacturer of steering linkages required a method to measure and improve the quality and effectiveness of their idler arm assembly process, specifically the nut crimping operation. Their problem was that there was no way to determine the effectiveness of the operation as common problems such as cross-threading, missing crimp and “soft” crimping often occurred. Read this Application Note to learn how Sciemetric solved the problem.
